A study by Dr. Paul Crosthwaite of Cardiff University draws on psychoanalysis, anthropological studies of investor behaviour and literary novels to suggest that bankers may have subconsciously desired the recent financial collapses. The findings challenge conventional ideas of markets being influenced by rational, self-interested individuals.
